About SEBA Class 9 Geography

The Geography textbook for AHSEC Class 9 begins with Change of the Earth’s Surface. This chapter explains how the surface of the Earth is shaped and reshaped by natural processes. Continents and oceans have different features such as plains, hills, mountains, valleys, deserts, plateaus, ridges, trenches and coral reefs. Many islands are also found in the oceans. These features were formed over long periods of time and continue to change due to geological and environmental forces.

The second chapter, Atmosphere: Structure, Air Pressure and Wind System, introduces the envelope of air around the Earth. The atmosphere is essential for life and works closely with the lithosphere and hydrosphere. The chapter describes the structure of the atmosphere, the nature of air pressure and the way wind systems function. It explains how these elements influence climate and life on Earth.

The third chapter, Geography of India, studies the physical and climatic conditions of the country. India’s vast size and position create great variety. The snow-covered Himalayas have very cold conditions, while the desert of Rajasthan is extremely hot. Some regions face floods due to heavy rainfall, while others struggle with drought. The chapter describes the main physical divisions of India and their influence on the climate.

The fourth chapter, Geography of Assam, focuses on the state and its surroundings. Assam shares borders with Bhutan, Bangladesh and several Indian states. Most of its boundary areas are hilly, and rivers and streams from these hills flow into the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers. The chapter shows how environmental changes in the surrounding areas affect both valleys. It also covers the climate and natural features of Assam.

These chapters together give students knowledge of the Earth, India and Assam.
